and a belief that the world can be better.
Who was AJ?
AJ’s life radiated a generous heart and an unwavering dedication to help others. He graduated High School in Virginia, served in the Air Force, and later switched careers working for UPS. His lively, spontaneous energy- especially through dancing and singing- brought joy to everyone around him. And if a Michael Jackson song came on, that meant the party was really about to begin. What made AJ so appealing was his genuine enjoyment to perform, despite having no formal training.
AJ was also a strong advocate for mental health awareness with empathy and courage that made a lasting impact on others. Diagnosed later in life as being on the high functioning end of the autism spectrum, AJ used his life experience to connect deeply with others, especially those often misunderstood, overlooked, or battling their own life challenges. He dedicated himself to breaking the stigma around it. Despite facing challenges with social interactions and relationships, often perceived as social awkwardness, AJ ultimately embraced his unique self and found strength in his personal journey. By embracing his true self, AJ learned how to build friendships his own way and discovered his true calling- uplifting others!!!
AJ checked on his friends often; He gave generously to others; Supported and always offered words of encouragement; He stood by those he cared about during their hardest moments and brought light and laughter wherever he could. In AJ’s world, everyone was a friend, no matter the race or gender- no one ever felt like a stranger.
“Known for his generosity, unwavering support, and boundless kindness, AJ stood by those he loved and welcomed everyone as a friend, without distinction.”
