The pain of losing a child is beyond words—an unimaginable grief that few can truly understand. For Mr. and Mrs. Conway, that unimaginable pain became a reality on July 1, 2025, when their son AJ’s life was tragically and unfairly taken at 31 years old.

The Moment That Changed Everything:AJ lost his life after providing temporary shelter to a friend leaving a domestic violence situation. AJ was simply being a friend, unaware of the potential danger in helping someone in this kind of situation. In a heartbreaking turn, the abuser sought out AJ, and then took his life. AJ’s selfless actions, though ending in sorrow, speak volumes about the young man and kind of friend he was—compassionate, generous, and always willing to help any friend in their time of need.

His mother Mrs. Conway described her grief of losing AJ as if “the foundation of their lives had collapsed”- leaving them lost, shattered and drowning in heartache. Yet, even in the depths of that despair, both Mr. and Mrs. Conway knew they had to act.

Inspired by Mrs. Conway, they chose to transform their grief into meaningful action. AJ was so much more than the heartbreaking that took him—he was a bright light in the lives of many. A cherished son, father, friend, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and grandson, AJ was deeply loved and treasured by all who knew him.

The Conway’s remained devoted to honoring AJ’s memory by celebrating the light he brought into the lives of so many people—through his infectious joy, love for dancing and singing—especially Tik Tok, genuine kindness, generous heart, and passion for mental health advocacy.

Their dedication to honoring AJ’s life inspired the founding of the nonprofit organization, “Move Like AJ, Inc.,” which offers scholarships as a meaningful tribute to his memory and legacy of continuing to help others.
